Ten hectares of striking Sa Portiscra wildlife area

Breathtaking panoramas where millenary canyons and sheer cliffs merge with the colours of the Mediterranean maquis and enchanting beaches dominate.

The wildlife area is located approximately 800 metres above sea level in locality Sa Portiscrain the Supramonte of Urzuleia territory characterised by rugged, wild and mountainous stretches.

A journey through time among unique millenary landscapes

From its heights, one can admire the majestic Gorropu Gorgewith its vertical walls touching 500 metres, the limestone chain of the Mount Oseli towering over the Moontailand the wide and glittering Gulf of Orosei.

Exploring the remains of the centuries-old holm oak forest, among the majestic juniper trees, rare wild orchids and the wonderful peony of the area, one can observe theSardinian goshawk and the majestic Golden Eagleand also sighting mouflonswild boars, martens, foxes and specimens of Cervus Elaphus Corsicanus.

Nearby, you can visit the Nuragic village of Or Muralesone of the largest and most spectacular in Sardinia, with around 100 well-preserved huts hidden in the vegetation. In the area, you will also find the characteristic limestone and juniper sheepfoldsused in the past by shepherds and still intact in their original characteristics.

What to see in the wildlife oasis

Ogliastra, with its rugged coastline and crystal-clear waters, is a paradise for diving enthusiasts. Some beaches near Bari Sardo and the Teku Hotel for diving and scuba diving.

Tower of Barì

This area is ideal for diving, thanks to the presence of rocky seabeds and a varied marine life, which lives among the striking Posidonia oceanica meadows.

The spectacular Barì Tower, with its centuries-old history, adds a touch of old-world charm to every dive, creating a magical atmosphere both on the surface and underwater.

Cea Beach

Located between the territories of Bari Sardo and Tortolì, the beach is famous for its scoglius arrubius (red stacks), offers a unique diving experience.

The seabed here is characterised by rock formations and rich biodiversity, with the presence of underwater rock formations which provide an ideal habitat for fish, crustaceans and molluscs.

Punta Niedda

The area is known for its rugged coastline and the dark rocks of volcanic originwhich contrast with the deep blue of the sea.

The rocky seabed presents caves, ravines e vertical walls which offer shelter to a wide variety of species. The diving and snorkelling experiences are truly unique, amidst lush Mediterranean vegetation that contributes to an authentic wilderness atmosphere.
